Grapefruit Green Tea

I can’t make this tea without singing “Good day, sunshine…” and I’m not even that big on The Beatles. It’s just that the pop of grapefruit and lemon mixed with the bang of green tea and cayenne, sweetened up with a few drops of maple syrup has me feeling “good, in a special way…”

This grapefruit green tea is a great way to jumpstart your morning (and your metabolism) on an otherwise gloomy or sluggish day. Or, you can make it rain or shine every day, like I do!

Ingredients

  • 1 green tea bag (or be like me and use loose-leaf!)

  • Juice from half a grapefruit

  • Juice from half a lemon

  • 1 big pinch of cayenne pepper

  • 1/2 tbsp good quality maple syrup

Make

Bring 2 cups of water to boil, then pour over the green tea bag, into a big mug or jar.  Let the tea steep for 3 minutes, then remove the bag and discard.  Using a fine-mesh strainer, add the grapefruit and lemon juices to the tea.  Top it off with cayenne pepper and maple syrup, give it a good stir, and start sippin'!
