Super-Cleansing Turmeric Smoothie

Carrots + beets + freshly grated turmeric = yes please!!!  

Turmeric is one of my go-to problem-solvers: it's a natural detoxifier, has potent anti-inflammatory properties, and has even been linked to cancer prevention.  Toss it in a blender with fresh veggie juice and some bananas to sweeten things up, and you've got a super-healing, super-yummy smoothie!

Ingredients

  • 2 medium carrots, chopped for juicer
  • 1 apple (any red or pink variety), chopped for juicer
  • 1 large red beet, chopped for juicer
  • 1 generous handful fresh parsley
  • 1 inch fresh turmeric root, peeled and grated
  • 3 peeled bananas, frozen ahead of time

Make

  1. Make your juice: toss carrots, apple, beet, and parsley into your juicer.  
  2. Make your smoothie: in a blender, combine your fresh juice, grated turmeric, and bananas.  Blend until smooth.
  3. Enjoy!

This recipe yields about 32 ounces of smoothie, so it's definitely shareable for two!
