I’d rather see the world from another angle…

I’ve been told plenty of times, for as long as I can remember, that I’m “too sensitive.”

It’s almost always said by someone who has hurt my feelings, and is trying to explain to me why my feelings shouldn’t be hurt.

Their side of the story is that my sensitivity is inconvenient, silly, “too much.”

My side of the story is that my sensitivity is what makes me a compassionate and creative person.

To my fellow highly sensitive empaths, I promise you this:

When some one tells you you are “too much,” more often than not, they are actually battling their own fears of being “not enough.”

It’s not easy to be a sensitive person in a sharp-edged world, but the world needs sensitive people.

The world needs our ability to listen,

to show up on time,

to remember the details,

to understand what’s left unsaid,

to care whole-heartedly and without embarrassment,

to remain present for the pain,

to create beautiful and soulful things (just because),

to love

and love

and love

and love.

The sharp-edged world needs soft places to land.

I am a soft place.

“Please be careful with me, cause I’d like to stay that way.”

(Ending with a Jewel lyric, because I’ll always be that girl.)
