Get Outside | Mother Earth Holds Us All

We were hiking in Death Valley.

I was feeling hot, dusty, and cranky, and we weren't even to the top yet.

But Nathan said "turn around,"

and I saw, past the warm rocks of Golden Canyon, the snow-capped peaks of Panamint Mountain Range.

S P A C E .

And contradiction—

hot and cold.

Winter and Spring.

"How does she contain it all?"

I thought.

Our sweet Mother Earth holds space for us to experience all of it—

to learn and love,

to work and play,

to feel mean and feel kind,

to rest and explore,

to leave and return.

This is how she loves us:

she gives us her space.

What we do with her space is up to us.
